Move your butt.
Three simple words that will change your life. They certainly changed mine.
For so many that complain about their current weight situation or are unhappy with themselves, the answer to getting started is Move your butt. Yet everyone can come up with so many reasons not to.
There isn’t anyone that doesn’t have 30 minutes somewhere in the day to squeeze in some exercise. Yet plenty of people will find time to watch a few hours of television, or sleep a few hours longer on the weekends.
What is it with exercise and being active that’s such a turn off for so many?
Yes, I can understand the comforts of sitting in a cozy sofa, but enough is enough.
For the most part, I’ve given up television. Yes I have a few favorite shows that I enjoy, like “The Office”. On average I’ll sit down for perhaps one hour of television a week. I’ve long ago decided that if I can keep busy and productive through playing with my son, exercising, working around the house, whatever, that I’ll also avoid the case of TV time munchies. So, I get some exercise and at the same time am not sitting there eating garbage food, an added bonus!
Sitting for hours on end in front of the television is to me not only a complete waste of one’s life, but also makes it far to easy eat without even thinking about it.
For those unhappy with their current weight situation, here’s an idea that helped me out. Start out with maybe two or three days during the week where you turn off the television for an hour. During that hour, find something to keep yourself busy and active. Go for a walk, play with your kids, something, anything that involves moving for that hour.
I really believe that everyone and anyone can lose weight by looking at some of the simple changes that they can make in their life, and an easy one to get started with is simply moving your butt.
I maintain a steady weight not through starving myself (I ate far too much today, but I won’t stress on it), but by staying active and finding things that keep me moving.
